It correctly identifies a number of issues facing both special educational provision and mainstream education in the UK. A number of issues are specified based on the author’s research. Solution-focused methods are proposed as a means of successfully addressing these issues. A distinction is made between achievement as defined by currently fashionable thinking in education, as against attainment which is an important central theme in Special Needs teaching.
