Denise Baden & Sue Lickorish ā
Introduction by Sue Lickorish This was such an engaging and inspiring session to join, and I highly recommend watching it.
Weaving her multiple strands of work, Denise Baden is bringing SF into play in personal, actionable ways for some of our biggest shared challenges.
John Brooker & Annie Bordeleau & Bodil Mickels
Introduced by Bodil Mickels Reflections on the Sustainability Unconference How can a solution-focused approach help create sustainable organisations? This was the theme at the SOLWorld “Unconference” sponsored by SFiO, in Land aan Zee, Netherlands, in mid-April 2024. 34 solution-focused coaches, organisational consultants, trainers and sustainability researchers, were present, representatives of public and local administrations, academia, private companies, and the third sector, making it a truly diverse and enriching experience. They joined from Europe, Australia and Canada, to ponder the theme question in a nature-rich environment. The forces of weather also participated in the experience, offering both sunshine and warmth, as well as torrential rain, thunder, and storms.

Introduction by John Teager A very special and enduring bond was established when Anton Stellamans, Jonas Wells and Mark McKergow met, for the first time, at the SOL World Conference in Sweden in 2004. This opportune bringing together of philosophy, anthropology and rabid curiosity led to an immediate connection and a natural conversation on how Solution Focus, and the groundbreaking work of Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, could be evolved and brought into organisations and society more widely.
I am Professor of Sustainable Business at the University of Southampton, UK. I have published widely in the academic realm and also in fiction. My eco-themed rom-com āHabitat Manā was published in 2021, followed by āthe Assassinā and āNo More Fairy Tales: Stories to Save the Planetā in 2022.
My most recent research explores the use of storytelling to promote green behaviours, looking at how readers respond to eco-themed stories. In 2018, I set up the Green Stories Writing project that challenges writers to embed green solutions in their stories via a series of free writing competitions. These are open to all, and 20 competitions have been run so far, which have resulted in several publications.
